Australia's upcoming talent were given a go last night in the final one-day match in Bangladesh overnight, and all shone in the Aussies' 9 wicket demolition. In particular were bowlers Mitchell Johnson and Dan Cullen who chipped in with tidy figures of 2/24 (8 overs) and 2/25 (7.3 overs) respectively, with Brad Hogg producing the innings' best figures of 3/17 from 6 overs. The home side were once again abismal with poor shot selection and a snail-pace run rate, their meagre total of 124 was inevitable, with Saleh scoring a test match-like 37 off 103 deliveries.
Australia's effort with the bat was rock-soild with debutant Mark Cosgrove carving up the Bangladeshi bowling attack with a powerful 74, before being dismissed just before reaching the total. Katich was left on a solid 42* as he watched Hogg smash the winning runs with a slashing cut shot to the boundary.
Essentially, the game proved that the young guns of Australian cricket have some real potential in the limited overs form of the game, but it is up to the selectors to give them a go in front of some tougher opposition in order to establish their true colours.
On a different note, batsman Shahriar Nafees was fined 20 percent of his match fee for showing decent towards the umpire's lbw decision, which ultimately led to his dismissal.
