Vaughan on a long road back

July 28th 2006 14:10
English opener and captain Michael Vaughan's plague of injuries to his right knee may eventually be the cause for an early retirement. Vaughan wishes to remain 'realistic' amongst his prospects as he prepares to go under the knife for the fourth time on the same troublesome right knee. Being sidelined on crutches until mid-late September, Vaughan regards playing in the Melbourne and Sydney as a mere 'dream' and states that if he is not 100% for the Ashes, he will shift his focus on the World Cup in 2007 in the Carribean.

With his long string of injuries, Vaughan should be accustomed to what needs to be done in order to fully recouperate, and I surely think that England will provide him with what could be his last comeback appearence in the England whites.
